Portal site(Biological seasonal survey NEAR envronmental project)

The purpose of this website is to raise awareness of the prevention of global warming through the implementation of the "Biological Seasonal Survey," which observes the seasonal changes in familiar organisms together with people in the Northeast Asian region.

●Let's think about global warming through the biological season survey!

Since the industrial revolution, "global warming" has progressed. Global warming not only raises the temperature, but also causes "climate change" that significantly changes the climate of the entire globe.
In many parts of the world, various effects and damages have already begun to appear on the natural environment and people's lives, and due to their seriousness, the term "climate crisis" has come to be used in recent years.
And global warming is affecting not only us humans but also animals and plants. Therefore, I would like to conduct a "biological seasonal survey" to observe the seasonal changes of familiar creatures together with everyone living in the Northeast Asian region and investigate the effects of global warming. Through this survey, let's consider global warming as "your own" and implement the measures we can take in our daily lives! For details on global warming and biological seasonal surveys, please click each banner at the top of the page to check.

●What is "Biological Seasonal Survey"?

The "Biological Seasonal Survey" is to grasp the progress of the season, such as the flowering of cherry blossoms and the first cry of cicada, by observing changes in familiar organisms (animals and plants). By accumulating survey results not only once (one year) but over a long period of time, it is possible to know the effects of climate change on living organisms.

Example) Long-term change in flowering time of cherry blossoms in Toyama Prefecture (according to the results of a survey conducted by the Meteorological Agency)
You can see the situation where the flowering time of cherry blossoms is getting earlier.

* The "Northeast Asia Regional Biological Seasonal Survey Promotion Project" is an individual professional of the Northeast Asia Regional Municipal Union (NEAR) Environmental Subcommittee. Positioned as a project, we are implementing it with the participation of related local governments.
