| @ | Projects to Support Measures for Environmental Preservation It is essential for countries and regions in the Northwest Pacific Region to collect and disseminate data and information on the marine environment and exchange technical knowledge about environmental protection measures, to promote the marine environment protection. NPEC, thus, collects and disseminates environment-related data and information which are fundamental to the cooperation in promoting the implementation of related projects. NPEC also promotes capacity building and expands a human network, for the@ facilitation of the related projects. P Collection and Management of Environment-related Data and Information NPEC collects and manages environment-related data and information including compiling basic environmental plan and examples of other legislative measures ofJapan, survey on environmental awareness in the Northwest Pacific Region, or collecting information on pollution load through river inputs. Q Training for Environment-related Officials @NPEC provides officials involved in environment in the Northwest Pacific Region with training programs of analytical and measuring techniques and environmental management, with the cooperation of the Toyama Prefectural Environmental Science and Research Center (TESC). R Publicity Work @NPEC disseminates data and information on environment as well as the activities of NPEC on website and through the publication of research and survey reports and bulletins such as a news letter, thus contributing to the promotion of marine environmental preservation. |
