Joint Research on the Water Quality of the Liao He River in Liaoning Province, China

œ Outline of the research
This fundamental research has been conducted since 1998 in cooperation with the Liaoning Provincial Government with the aim of clarifying the causes and characteristics of water pollution of the Liao He river. In 2003 survey was conducted on the lower reach and mouth of the Da Liao He river which flows into Bohai Bay to grasp its state of pollution. In order to help Liaoning Province improve the accuracy of measurement, experts were dispatched to the province and technicians were invited to Toyama for their training

Monitoring points and periods
Monitoring was conducted at three points of the main stream of the Da Liao He river - Sanchahe (upper reach), Heiyingtai (middle reach), Liaohe Gongyuan (lower reach) which were considered to be indispensable points for assessing the qualitative change of the water accompanied by its flow. In order to assess environmental effects on the Da Liao He river by the urban drainage canal of Yingkou city, the survey was conducted at 6 points including outlets of pulp manufacturing factories. The survey was carried out in May and October.
úA Monitoring parameters
Organic matters:water temperature,pH,DO,electric conductivity, SS, COD, BOD, TOC, petroleum oil, T-N, T-P, ignition loss, chlorophyll a and Heavy metals :As, Hg, Pb, Cd, Cr and Cu
